1840's Brown Calico Dress

Antique early roller print brown calico dress from the 1840s. It is all hand stitched and made of a brown calico fabric with a roller print red floral pattern design. The bottom 9 inch hemline of the skirt is lined in an indigo blue and white calico fabric. The work dress has a pleated front bodice with long narrow sleeves and a ruffled trim at the elbows. It has cartridge pleats around the waist and a full hoop skirt. The inside bodice is lined in a homespun linen, with an attached inner cotton modesty panel across the bust with brass hooks & eyes for closure down the front. The dress measures 52 inches long, with a 26 inch waist, 34 inch bust and 13 inch back.
